The art theme for August is sensory exploration. Today we talked about the five senses before getting started. This art project uses the sense of sight, smell and feel.
The first step was to mix the red paint with cinnamon. The spice container was passed around first. Some children said it smelled like cinnamon buns, some said it smelled spicy. While painting the apples the room was filled with a delicious smell!
Next they made a leaf by painting their hand green and stamping it on paper. Then they cut it out and added a brown stem.
The project was a bit messy but it was lots of fun!
The final touch was adding a little felt worm in the hole of the apple. Even after the paint dried you can still smell the cinnamon! Great job Galaxy class!
